Strengthen and restore your marriage through biblical principles and God’s guidance.
Whether you’re feeling stuck or in a crisis, God can transform your marriage. Trinity Church invites you to let us walk alongside you and encourage you toward growth and renewal in Christ.
Things to remember:
1. God cares about your marriage
Marriage is a beautiful covenant designed by God, but it can also be challenging. When difficulties arise, it is crucial to seek God’s wisdom and guidance. God cares about your marriage and wants to teach you principles that will lead to flourishing, not just surviving. James 1:5 tells us, “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” Begin by submitting yourself before God, and asking for His wisdom, not your own. Believe that He can transform your marriage for His glory.
2. Biblical, God-honoring communication is key
Communication is vital to resolving conflicts and building intimacy in marriage. James 1:19 advises, "Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry." By listening to each other and expressing our feelings with kindness, we create an environment where understanding and healing can take place. But we cannot do this on our own. We need the help of the Holy Spirit to transform us from the inside out. Instead of bitterness, jealousy, and hopelessness, the fruit of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives is “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22-23) If you want to know more about how to experience the transforming work of God in your life, we invite you to join us at Trinity on a Sunday or check out some of our teachings here.
3. Forgiveness is a picture of God’s grace
Forgiveness is essential in any relationship, especially in marriage. Colossians 3:13 says, "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Holding onto past hurts can hinder the growth of your marriage. By extending grace and forgiveness, we mirror God's love and pave the way for reconciliation and renewal.
Your marriage is meant to be a picture of God’s love for the church, an example to the world of an intimate, loving, flourishing relationship that puts each other first and lives together as one.
