Learn biblical principles and practical tips for raising Godly children in today’s world.
At Trinity, we want families to feel equipped to be the spiritual leaders for your kids. Anxiety, technology, identity confusion, and crises of faith are major factors facing parents, but there is hope when we turn to God for answers.
1. Look to the Bible
You can search for a quick answer on the internet to any parenting question and immediately receive results ranging from one end of the spectrum to the other. However, the best place for parents to look for advice is God’s Word. It is the true source of guidance and wisdom in all things. Proverbs 22:6 instructs us, "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." Teaching our children about God's love, His Word, and His ways lays a solid foundation for their lives. We are called to be their primary spiritual mentors, leading by example and instilling biblical values.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 also reminds us to talk about God's commands with our children, whether we are at home, on the road, going to bed, or getting up. Making God's Word a central part of our family life helps our children understand and apply it to their lives.
2. Pray for your family
Prayer is a powerful tool in parenting. When we pray, we are able to commune with our Heavenly Father, who shows us how to love our families and how to live a Godly life together. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us to present our requests to God with thanksgiving, and His peace will guard our hearts and minds. Praying for our children and with them helps us rely on God's strength and wisdom.
3. Join a community of other Godly families
Navigating parenting involves seeking godly counsel and support. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed." Surrounding ourselves with a community of believers, joining parenting groups, and seeking advice from experienced parents can provide valuable insights and encouragement. If you’re interested in circling up with other Godly families at Trinity, check out our community groups here.
By trusting in God's guidance and relying on His Word, our hope is that families at Trinity can navigate the challenges of raising our children in this world, equipping them to grow in faith and character.
